It That time of year

Been on TV in The press like many other hypnotist

But How strange is this one

Today 19th June 09 time 15.35

The phone rang and a little faint voice started asking me about the artical i had in the paper with a very high interest.

After chatting for around 25 minutes she explained that her company was looking for a Hypnotist to go on a local show and Hypnotise some one.

Well as normal i jumped at the chance she agreed

(then the bomb shell)

I live in the UK

And she was in Newzeland

When i told her this she said i know and where would you like to fly from.Great little earner for me and publicity as well.Next week will be a nice time for me in newzealand.

So just take note all you budding hypnotist out there , you never know where or when things happen.

How Did This Happen

Hello again

Just had a break in Spain for a couple of days , only visiting some friends.We all went down to the local bar had some great chit chat as they say.

When a Hypnotist was going to do a show , there was around six of us in the group including me and my fantastic wife(shes over my shoulder while typing lol but she is fantastic anyway)

There was a singer on first , you would never has guest who they was going to sing like (Elvis what a shock)

Anyway while the singer was on my friends all new of my role as an International hypnotist and Illusionist , so all the usual question came out how does it work will he be able to hypnotise anyone (you know the questions)

Well Elvis had returned to the chip shop after his performance and out came the chairs around 10 in a row , the compare introduce the hypnotist and gave the words (only come up if you dare , you should have been here last night this hypnotist made a man strip off)

One of the things i learned from an early start abroad is tell the compare what to say as he can really ruin a show before it starts.Well on came the intro must and when i heard this i know and not being big headed at all this was a new kid on the block as to say.

After the intro this young man in his 20s walked on stage , he spent over twenty minutes trying to get volunteers and no one came on stage , you could tell by the body language he was a little stressed and worried.

After this he went to the bar and said I'm going calling all the volunteers a waste of time.

I really felt sorry for the young man walked over to him and asked if he was OK , he shrugged at me so i introduced myself.

He did know my name and had seen me around two years ago in Greece , i was a little surprised but also glad of this.

Well after a chat and a beer he asked what i would do , my answer to his question was simple.

I said do you want to do the show yes but this is the first time this has happened he said , looking at him my reply was Dave Ellman once said while teaching Doctors the art of hypnosis , one Doctor kept having great results and others were failing which would make the best hypnotist?

The answer is the ones who failed the reason being they would now try new methods to hypnotise people making them a much more talented hypnotist and not be worried about inducing people in to trance because all there failing would make them know how to hypnotise anyone.

With this i found out this young man had attended a crash course and on the course never done any practical or hypnotise anyone.He looked very worried and said would i do a show with him , not very keen about this the wife looks at me and said go on help him out , being of the soft nature i am agreed

really looked the part.Well lets get on with it.

To be honest the Barman did not know me and was a little ###### off to say the least , but agreed anyway as the pub was full and ready for a show I introduced us on the Mic as International Hypnotist RickyDale and ***** Comedy Hypnotist then adding no one will be made to take off any clothing and what the compare had said was just his own words of wisdom and making a joke about the compare helped as well.

Well asking for volunteers was OK after pointing out that the show was just good clean family fun.

we got around 15 people and kept around 8 under the whole show.

People loved us and this helped the young lad gain his confidence to perform , we had a great show for about two hours , when i had been out there just to relax but still loved to perform anyway.

After the show the young man who now has attended my training in the UK , thanked me and tried to pay me but i declined and it was agreed he would buy a meal for me and the wife.

So why did i title this blog as it should not happen.

If the training school had shown this young man a real live show as i do on my training days none of the above would have happened and he could have stopped all the embarrassment.

After this the young man returned to the UK and attended my training seminar and now is working on a cruise ship with some great life experiences.

We have stayed good friends and i am very proud of helping him to succeed.

Working Abroad As A Comedy Hypnotist

I have been an Hypnotist for 16 Years Now , Having some great fun and meeting fantastic people.

Places i have worked are Greece , Spain ,Canary Islands, Cyprus and America

This has given me a fantastic lifestlye and some very good wages to.

There have been some very bad times working abroad as well which i will share with you so these don,t happen to you as well.

The first thing i will say is Plan and have a contract.

I was working in Spain in 2003 for a local Entertainments Agency , who had promised me around 200 euros a show two shows a night Six Days a week , As promised i done these shows and had people packing the Bars also booking seats for the show , Normally these bars were very quite and i had personally filled them.

I was due to be paid on the 11th of every month , when i did get paid the agent had deducted me 70% of my wages even though it was promised only 25% would be deducted.

When i confronted him he told me I had to pay for the apartment and travel expenses all the other acts had done the same and complained but thats as far as it went.

If i had made a contract and not a verbal one this would have not happened.

So what did i do ?

First thing was to find my own appartment and work

All the Bars i had worked in begged me to carry on.

So the next day i went to the local printers got them to make some cheap flyers and went posting in Hotels ,bars Clubs any where where i could find work.

Brought a Local mobile Sim due to the low cost of calls had this added to the flyers.

I posted around 200 flyers around the area and in about one hours drive.

If this sounded like to much trouble , it wasn't because me and the wife walked in the nice hot wheater with a bottle of water and had a good time.

Well a week went by and never had a call , then my phone kept ringing , we were in the season now and there was a lot of Elvis singers out there but nothing like Hypnosis.

One thing i do find when working abroad and a lot of hypnotist have the same problems is singers get a little upset due to the price of your act and what they earn for theirs , as most singers only earn around 40 Euros for a show.

Now i had booked around five venues at 250 Euros a show still selling my show cheaper than the agent with no deductions

In my first week i had earn 1250 Euros for as little as two hours work a night.

These venues where some places i had not worked before and the response i had with the owners was fantastic.

The bars which i had worked for under the agent , some used and some didn't the reason being is that the agent supplies all there acts and had told them he would stop all acts working if they used me.

After working for the week more calls came and before i knew it i had 14 venues

wow i thought and had to refuse some venues after that.

I was working for 7 nights for 250 Euros a show Two shows a night

Now this is what i had travelled to spain for my second week earned me 3500Euro and also around another 150 Euros a show selling DVD,s of the show.

Now i was happy and it was all worth the effott.

So take my warnings if you do travel or work for anyone get a contract and above all read the clauses.

Or better still book a flight find some cheap Diggs and find your own work as i did.
